Change Password: Update Your Login Credentials

All authenticated users (Except Social Account Users)

Overview

Change your login password to keep your account secure. Your password is managed through Microsoft Azure AD B2C.

Social Account Users

If you signed up with Microsoft, Google, or another social provider, you cannot change your password here. You must change it through your social provider's settings.

How to Access: Click My Account then Change password

How to Change Your Password

  1. Click My AccountChange password
  2. Enter your Current Password (required)
  3. Enter your New Password (required)
  4. Enter your Confirm Password (required)
  5. Click Save
  6. Result: Success message appears and your password is updated

You will remain logged in after changing your password.

Password Fields

Current Password (required)

  • Your existing password
  • Confirms your identity before allowing changes
  • Required for security

New Password (required)

  • Your new desired password
  • Must meet security requirements (see below)
  • Cannot be the same as your current password

Confirm Password (required)

  • Re-enter your new password to prevent typos
  • Must match New Password exactly
  • Case-sensitive

Password Requirements

Your new password must meet these criteria:

  • Minimum length: At least 8 characters
  • Uppercase letters: Include at least one (A-Z)
  • Lowercase letters: Include at least one (a-z)
  • Numbers: Include at least one (0-9)
  • Special characters: Recommended (!, @, #, $, %, etc.)

Creating a Strong Password:

  • ✅ Use a unique password for this system
  • ✅ Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters
  • ✅ Avoid personal information (birthdays, names, etc.)
  • ✅ Don't reuse old passwords
  • ✅ Use a password manager to generate and store passwords
  • ✅ Change your password every 90 days

Examples of Strong Passwords:

  • MySecure123!Pass
  • Summer2024@Beach
  • Hockey#Team99

Avoid:

  • ❌ Common words or phrases ("password", "welcome")
  • ❌ Sequential numbers (123456)
  • ❌ Keyboard patterns (qwerty)
  • ❌ Personal information easily found online
  • ❌ Sharing your password with anyone
  • ❌ Reusing passwords from other sites

Social Accounts and Password Changes

If You Signed Up With Microsoft, Google, or Another Provider

You cannot change your password in Match Official System. Your account uses your social provider's credentials.

To change your password:

  1. Go to your social provider (Microsoft, Google, etc.)
  2. Sign in to your account
  3. Go to Security or Settings
  4. Update your password there
  5. Your new password works everywhere, including Match Official System

Example:

  • Microsoft Account → Go to account.microsoft.com → Security → Change password
  • Google → myaccount.google.com → Security → Password

Common Tasks

Changing an Expired Password

If your password has expired or an administrator requires you to change it:

  1. You'll be redirected to the Change Password page automatically
  2. Enter your Current Password
  3. Enter a New Password meeting the requirements
  4. Confirm your new password
  5. Click Save
  6. You'll be able to access the system normally

Recovering Access After Forgetting Password

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click Forgot my password
  3. Follow the email verification process
  4. Create a new password meeting the requirements
  5. Log in with your new password

Troubleshooting

"Current password incorrect"

How to Fix:

  1. Check that Caps Lock is off
  2. Verify you're typing the password correctly
  3. Try typing it in a text editor first to see what you're entering
  4. If you can't remember your password, use Forgot my password on the login page

"New passwords do not match"

How to Fix:

  1. Clear both the New Password and Confirm Password fields
  2. Type your new password carefully in New Password
  3. Type the exact same password in Confirm Password
  4. Make sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning or end
  5. Check that you didn't accidentally turn on Caps Lock

"Password does not meet requirements"

How to Fix:

  1. Make sure your password is at least 8 characters long (not 7)
  2. Include at least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
  3. Include at least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  4. Include at least one number (0-9)
  5. Consider adding a special character (!, @, #, $, etc.)

Example of a strong password: MyPassHALO24!

Social Accounts and Password Changes

If You Signed Up With Microsoft, Facebook, or Another Provider

You cannot change your password in Match Official System. Your account uses your social provider's credentials.

To change your password:

  1. Go to your social provider (Microsoft, Facebook, etc.)
  2. Sign in to your account
  3. Go to Security or Settings
  4. Update your password there
  5. Your new password works everywhere, including Match Official System

Example:

  • Microsoft Account → Go to account.microsoft.com → Security → Change password
  • Facebook → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Security & Login → Change Password
  • Google → myaccount.google.com → Security → Password

Tips & Best Practices

Password Security

  • ✅ Use a different password for this system than other websites
  • ✅ Never share your password with anyone
  • ✅ Don't write your password on sticky notes
  • ✅ Don't save your password in browsers on public computers
  • ✅ Use a password manager to remember complex passwords
  • ✅ Log out from shared computers

Account Protection

  • ✅ If you see unexpected login activity, change your password immediately
  • ✅ Report suspicious activity to an administrator
  • ✅ Use "Keep me signed in" only on personal devices
  • ✅ Sign out of public computers before leaving
